How to Stay Peaceful in a Chaotic World

Everything is moving so quickly in our current times. The abundance of information on social media leads to people feeling overloaded. Most people feel drained after taking ‌enough rest. The environment is quite chaotic. This race, which everyone is running, will only finish with their last breath. People are forgetting who they are and what they want from their lives. So today, we will talk about how we can calm the hyperactive mind and stay peaceful in a chaotic world.

Why the World Feels More Chaotic Than Ever? The world feels more chaotic because there is a flood of information, regardless of whether it is useful. Studies suggest human attention spans are decreasing because of constant digital stimulation. Constant scrolling and consuming new information every minute leave people feeling hollow inside. Everyone is running for unrealistic dreams and having mental pressure to win this endless race. People are continuously facing stress and fear. It causes physical and mental disturbances. Another reason is that most people live a purposeless life and follow the guidelines of society instead of their genuine passion. And when a man has no purpose in life to live, he starts to make things, and his surroundings become chaotic.

What is Peace? Whenever the topic of peace comes up, people think about going to the mountains in search of peace, but peace is not an external thing that is found outside. It is internal. Scientifically, “Peace is a state in which the mind and body remain calm, stable, and free from excessive stress or internal conflict.” It means a harmonious relation among the physical, mental, and emotional states of the body, where it can perform regular work tasks without‌ stress and social pressure.

Pathway to stay peaceful in this chaotic world. We can’t get rid of the outer pressure or stress completely, but we can overcome and reduce it. Here are some ways to stay peaceful in this chaotic world.

1. Limit social media. An excessive or unnecessary use of social media makes things more chaotic because the constant consumption of unnecessary content leads to pointless comparison. So, first, we have to limit our social media. You can use apps to track and control ‌activity, and use app timers. It helps your brain process useful information and provides a break to take a breath for your brain.

2. Meditation is essential at present. For those with a restless mind, sitting still can be difficult, which is why active meditation and breathwork are so powerful. It helps to find the peace and purpose of your life and gives a reason to get out of bed daily. Meditation calms the chaotic mind, guiding it toward a harmonious state. It also improves social relations and strengthens emotional well-being. It will bring deep peace to your nature. If you are looking to deeply reset and experience this firsthand, consider joining our upcoming Mahāprāṇa Dhyāna Śivira, a 7-day spiritual retreat in Kathmandu. Click to open the panel for more information.

3. Follow what you love. People forget what makes them happy. They follow others blindly and try to find peace in them, but the miracle happens when you find out what you actually love and what makes you feel better. It doesn’t mean you leave all your work and start to follow. Take a little time each day and do what you love.

4. Spend time with your loved ones. In this chaotic and fast-paced world, we often forget to pay attention to our loved ones, the ones who care about us the most. So, try to give them time and spend quality time with them. It reduces cortisol levels and increases oxytocin, serotonin, dopamine, and endorphin levels, which provide emotional stability, support mood stability, build trust, and foster positive social interactions.

The world may stay chaotic, but you don’t have to. You don't worry about the chaos; you just have to manage it. Just find out what you want from your life and how you can fulfil it. Follow your own pace and enjoy the journey. A healthy and happier life is more than a destination — it’s a balanced and fulfilling one. You cannot find peace externally. It is hidden within you; you just need to discover it. The world will continue to change, but staying connected to yourself can help you remain calm even in the middle of chaos. To take the first step toward this inner silence, explore the journey of the Mahāprāṇa Dhyāna Śivira. By Gajendra
