Mahāprāṇa Dhyāna Śivira

A Meditation Retreat amid the Himalayas

Date: 12 June 2026

Place: Innerview Apartments, Kathmandu, Nepal

About the Retreat

Mahāprāṇa Dhyāna Śivira is a one-day free meditation retreat to be held on 12 June 2026 in Kathmandu, Nepal.

Kathmandu remains one of the world's most enduring spiritual landscapes—a valley shaped over centuries by the meeting of diverse spiritual traditions. Surrounded by monasteries, temples, and sacred sites, it has long served as a place for contemplation, practice, and inner exploration.

This retreat is designed for individuals seeking relief from anxiety, stress, fear, and the sense of disconnection that has become increasingly common in modern life. The retreat is founded on a simple yet profound understanding: that many of the challenges we experience originate within us, and therefore can be transformed through inner awareness and practice. Through guided meditation and self-inquiry, participants will be introduced to practical methods for cultivating clarity, balance, and inner peace.

The program will include multiple meditation sessions throughout the day, conducted at the meditation hall of Innerview Apartments. Detailed schedules and participation guidelines will be shared with registered participants in advance.

The retreat will be led by Suvvidhi, a monk rooted in the classical spiritual and philosophical traditions of India. Through years of walking across India and living in close contact with its diverse spiritual cultures, he has developed active meditation methods particularly suited to the modern mind. These techniques work through the body to help quiet the mind, making meditation accessible even to those who find traditional stillness-based practices challenging.

This is a non-residential retreat. Participants are responsible for their own accommodation, transportation, and meals. No lodging or food arrangements will be provided by the organizers.

The retreat is open to both beginners and experienced practitioners. Participation is free of charge, and all those interested in exploring meditation and inner well-being are warmly welcome.

Advance registration is required due to limited seating. Further details regarding the schedule and venue will be shared with registered participants

The Practices

The practices include both active and silent meditations.

ACTIVE MEDITATIONS

The active practices taught in this retreat work through breathwork, specific movements of the body, and catharsis — engaging the body as a means of drawing the restless energy of the mind downward and inward, until the mind, no longer running on its own momentum, arrives at stillness.

SILENT MEDITATIONS

This is the first movement: from mental restlessness to bodily presence. Once a participant has arrived in the body and the noise of the discursive mind begins to settle, the practice turns deeper — toward the self that exists beneath thought, habit, and accumulated tension.

GROUP PRACTICE

The human being, however, does not exist in isolation. We are, by nature, social creatures — formed in relation to others and meant to live among them. This reality is not set aside during the retreat but made use of. Group practice forms a central part of the programme. When many people chant together, sit together, or move together in practice, something beyond the individual begins to be felt — a coherence, a resonance, that is difficult to arrive at alone. These group sessions are not incidental to the retreat; they are part of the teaching.
